Tata Safari Dark: What’s New

Tata Motors recently launched the Tata Safari Dark Edition. We go over its key features and what sets it apart from the standard Tata Safari. Tata Motor’s Dark Edition cars are based on specific trims, usually top-spec, and feature a completely blacked-out, stealthy look. The Dark Edition of the Tata Safari is the fifth car in this line-up after the Tata Altroz, Nexon, Nexon EV and the Harrier. Read on to find out more about its unique features.

Dressed Up On the Outside

The most notable feature of the Tata Safari Dark is its all-black look. The Oberon Black colour scheme is the same as the Tata Harrier’s Dark version. The Safari gets two variants, XT+ and XZ+. Based on the top-spec variants means that the Safari Dark gets top-end features such as LED DRLs and projector headlights that look extremely imposing in the Safari’s thick fendered garb in all black. While the standard petrol Safari’s top variants would get a fair share of chrome bits, the Dark replaces that with blacked-out bits. The wheels are also the same top-spec 18-inch alloys but in an all-black finish.

And Dressed Up on the Inside

The interior drops the standard variant’s dual-tone looks for an all-black finish. The upholstery also gets Granite Black leather married with stealthy looking tri arrow design and stitching in blue. The headrest features a “#Dark” stitching across it.

Loaded With Features

The Tata Safari Dark gets features equivalent to its trim. The six-seater versions get ventilated seats for the first two rows, an air purifier. The SUV gets an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless compatibility, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and WiFi connectivity.

The Same Powerful Heart

The Tata Safari Dark gets a lot of cosmetic upgrades, but the power train remains the same. It gets the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that is capable of putting down 170bhp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. This is married to an automatic torque converter transmission and a six-speed manual transmission option.

Premium Pricing

The Tata Safari Dark Edition is priced starting at ₹19.06 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the Dark XT+ variant which is roughly a ₹20,000 premium over the standard variant. The pricing of the Dark variants goes up to ₹22.41 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the top-end Tata Safari Dark XZA+ 6S six-seater variant.
